| WHY AM I SO BAD AT DOING HOMEWORK, THIS IS RIDICULOUS
right this very second, instead of writing homework-related thing, I am writing this inane post about how I am not doing my homework.
I AM HOPELESS.
EDITED TO ADD MORE IRRELEVANT RAMBLING: I DO NOT CARE WHAT HAPPENED IN ZURICH DURING THE DADA MOVEMENT OR WHAT JOSEPH BEUY'S THEORY OF SCULPTURE IS, THAT MAN IS INSANE I WILL NEVER NEED THIS INFORMATION IN MY BRAIN I WISH IT WAS NOT IN THERE I WISH, INSTEAD, I SPENT THE TIME I SPENT LEARNING ABOUT THESE THINGS LEARNING HOW TO COOK DELICIOUS MEALS, OR HOW TO BUILD BOX KITES, OR EVEN JUST WORKING ON MY STUDIO CLASSES WORK. but instead there are things like joseph beuys and cremaster 3 in my head. agja;gaj;djl;alsjg;ssj;galhglak sorry for the caps i am having a bad day | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |

| I am soooo very tired. I am at work, and I am working (heh) on my animation for Action Analysis. But I am so tired. After work I have to study for my 20th century exam tomorrow. I need to figure out what the lowest grade I can get on it is while still maintaining a B in that class. Thursday this animation is due. I predict an all-nighter wednesday. I need caffeine, I haven't had a caffeinated beverage in ages and ages. I'll never stay up these next two nights with artificial stimulants.
but I fixed the human animation, it looks less dumb now. i'm getting to lazy to capitalize, this is a bad sign. i'm going to go do the printer rounds now, maybe a walk will wake me up a little. | comments: Leave a comment |
| Here's the human half of my final for Action Analysis, which is a human and animal interacting. Mine is a cat, who will in true cat fashion, not go after the toy the guy throws.
Action Analysis Final Test 1 from Cat Brooks on Vimeo.
I'm not sure why the end of it got cut off a little, but that's okay. Replaced the video.
By Tuesday, I need to at least have the keys for the cat in, and by Thursday this has to be done. I am feeling pretty good about that amount of time. Finals this quarter were not terribly stressful.
Also, tonight I need to write a paper about the pros and cons of my candlestick rig. That should take less than twenty minutes, so that's cool. | comments: Leave a comment |
| WATER ON THE FUCKING MOON
NASA today opened a new chapter in our understanding of the moon. Preliminary data from the Lunar CRater Observation and Sensing Satellite, or LCROSS, indicates that the mission successfully uncovered water during the Oct. 9, 2009 impacts into the permanently shadowed region of Cabeus cater near the moon’s south pole.
DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS?
YES THAT MEANS THERE WILL BE MOONBASES BEFORE YOU ARE DEAD | comments: 4 comments or Leave a comment |

| I got this in a Cialis/Viagra spam e-mail today...
"Yes, mlord. The girl covered her mouth when she spoke. Peck served the wine on a golde unburied. The air still smelled of smoke, and the cries of the seagulls floating overhead sounded gogjwdpjh."
It's... it's beautiful. | comments: 7 comments or Leave a comment |
| So that was a pretty fun Halloween. I lost the First Annual In-House Pumpkin Carving Contest 2009, but that's okay. Me and my two roommates participated and we conspired to make it a very serious event, lol. The contest was announced at the beginning of October and took up our memo whiteboard all month. We all got our own pumpkin and carved it (mine was Mojo Jojo). Then we got three of our friends to be the official judges. I made very nice looking scorecards for them to use. We had set up a system with 20 points for Design, 20 points for Technical Skill, and 5 points for Halloweeniness. Me and my roommate who won actually tied but the judges gave her pumpkin 1 extra point for being more Halloweeny (CARTOON VILLAINS ARE TOTALLY HALLOWEENY.)
So yeah, I did not get the prize (three Magic: the Gathering booster packs, lol) but that is okay because it was so much fun putting the whole event together XD
We put the pumpkins in front of our door all lit up in hopes of attracting trick-or-treaters but of course we didn't get any XD We are downtown squashed between a bunch of lawyers' offices.
None of us dressed up or anything, but our friends came over and we all played Left 4 Dead so that was fun.
I have kicked off the post-Halloween season by getting this icon by freudian_lisp. IT NEEDS TO BE WINTER NOW, KEEP UP, SAVANNAH. IT'S ~OFFICIALLY~ NOVEMBER.
ETA: Oh, also. Things I need to do but will never have time: • Buy a bigger pot for Andrew the Cactus • Clean my room • Get a haircut • Get a second bookcase (an addendum to cleaning my room and making space for a second bookcase) • Buy small shelf platform things for display purposes • Draw a ref-sheet for Thomas • Draw any of my characters ever • Do laundry • Call home to talk
Things I need to do and must make time for: • Work on cat basic shapes • Finish cat walk animation (by Tuesday) • Study Maya parent/constraints sheet for quiz on Monday • Make list of traits for prop rig by Monday • Do laundry (if I actually run out of clothing) • Ship off Pokemon stuff | comments: Leave a comment |
| I'm so glad I had a chance to carve a pumpkin this year. First time ever scraping, I think it turned out awesome XD | comments: 3 comments or Leave a comment |
| Maya, come on, I'm all about 3D Animation but you're seriously pushing it. Setting up camp at the lab. All-nighters; It's amazing how you can actually get USED to them. Just have to wait for someone to send me a rig... and then do... 10 seconds of animation. YES I AM SUICIDAL THIS IS GOING TO SUCK A LOT I just hope I don't fail this class. Plllleeeease don't let me fail this class. I want to graduate on time, and I want to go home for the last summer break I'll ever have. I want to HAVE the last summer break I'll ever have. Oh, and no thinking about the fact that I'm only signed up for two classes until later. There's only so much you can freak out about at once, you know? | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| Okay, so I've seen this meme floating around and I realized that... I haven't had time for my own characters in AGES. I'd love to focus on them for a few minutes so if anyone has any questions (even really generic ones) let me have 'em :D Most of my characters do have really elaborate backstories even if I never get a chance to mention it online ever.
Stolen from freudian_lisp, julian_wilbury and oly_rrr.
I figured if people were curious enough about my brain babies this could prove enlightening. It also helps develop characters and stories for myself. Don't be afraid to ask about something that bothers you either, like why Airu's horn is so stupid looking, Keener never showers or why Fred is such a fraidy cat, why... uh... my characters are so weird, I will answer honestly because there is usually a reason behind everything I draw (is there? OH MY D:).
Ask me either a broad question (i.e 'what is the meaning behind this picture?', 'who is your cruelest character?', 'what story is this character from?', 'what is the worst/best thing that happens in your story?') or a specific question/request ('what does ___ come from?', 'why is ___ like that?') and I will answer you. Or you can ask meta- questions like 'what was the inspiration for creating ____?'
FOR REFS: Gah, this is such an embarassing collection of references for my characters. I really don't draw them enough. The only ones that are really applicable for this meme are Shape, Thomas... Kovik (insofar as he is a fan character), and Keb and Yaro. http://stuffed.deviantart.com/gallery#My-Characters -- All my little bit characters are in here, too. Lightningbolteyes, Hamster, Kringle, Scotty, etc. They're not too important, just fun to draw or, in Hamster's case, for a specific project. Keb, Yaro, and Oba the rhino. I REALLY haven't been giving enough time to these guys, but I doodle them all over the place.
Yeah, looking up all the pictures of these guys was depressing since there's so little of them. :( Winter break, totally going to fix this shit. ORIGINAL CHARACTERS, HOOOOO. | comments: 3 comments or Leave a comment |

| CHECK THIS OUT

Russell and Dug just look like creepy mascot suits BUT
CARL LOOKS AWESOME. I am p. sure that Carl is the only costume character I would feel compelled to hug. He is just a silly-face Grandpa, it is awesome.
Also I am in a head-cold stupor. So maybe this is not awesome and I just can't tell the difference. | comments: 15 comments or Leave a comment |

Why have we all gotten so uninterested in SPACESHIPS. Rockets go up all the time and nobody cares. What happened? People west of the Mississippi - YOU WILL ACTUALLY BE ABLE TO SEE MOON DUST SPEWING UP FROM WHERE THEY CRASH THIS THING
THAT IS AWESOME.
Also -- MOON WATER. MOOOOON WATER.
Why don't I have my "The Universe is Awesome" icon anymore 8( FOUND IT. | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |

| Aaah.
I had to pay $30 for shipping from a seller on eBay for collection of small items totaling $15. Two of those items were $5, the rest were $1. The largest item was a 3" plush. The listings (they were in an eBay store, so they were all BINs) claimed the seller would do "Combined shipping". So naturally I assumed they would, you know, COMBINE SHIPPING, aka, put all the items into one combined shipment. In reality they were offering DISCOUNTED shipping, which meant that shipping for each item was 50% off after the first item. NO THAT IS NOT COMBINED SHIPPING.
Anyway, I complained about it on the eBay discussion boards and was told that I can ask for a refund from Paypal after I receive the package and it turns out I was grossly overcharged for shipping. And I fully intend to do that. I told the shipper I fully intend to do that. So we'll see how that goes.
Honestly, though, the items I bought will PROBABLY sell for more than even that amount of money. Two of them I know for sure will be profitable, but I think I got some other good stuff to sell, and two things for myself.
Damn, there is a big $45 hole in my bank account now, though. It stings.
EDIT: OR NOT. The seller CANCELED MY ORDER apparently. It is still on My eBay but they refunded my payment with the message "we are canceling this order". WTF. I'm trying to connect to the eBay Live Chat help thing, this is just ridiculous. | comments: 8 comments or Leave a comment |
